Introduction #
Below is a list of limitations of the Army AVD Program. Consider these limitations as a method to balance your ability to remain productive without Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) with the security and integrity of Army and DoD networks.
General Limitations: #
- You can not update CAC certificates. AVD does not have ActivClient or the HID Credential Management Extension.
- You can not copy/paste from your local machine into the AVD environment.
- You can not copy/past from the AVD environment to your local machine.
- You can not transfer files from your local machine into the AVD environment.
- You can not transfer files from the AVD environment to your local machine.
- You can not access attached hard drives.
- You can not access attached USB or thumb drives.
- You can not access attached USB CD or DVD drives.
- You can not access attached USB or wireless printers.
- You can not access local networks; wired or wireless.
- You can not use other remote desktop clients, or double-hopping, such as:
- Citrix
- VMware
- You can not install software on your AVD image.
AVD Web Browser Version Limitation: #
- You can not use AVD via a browser to login to a CAC-enabled website. This feature is called CAC-passthrough. For example, you cannot login to eFLIPL, myPay, or GCSS-Army. You will need to use the Windows Remote Desktop App for CAC-passthrough.
